tension vs. compression
functional vs. appearance. Functional= health focused. Determine target area, if not feeling pose there, change pose. Appearance is more about mastering poses.
23-"Don't use body to get into pose, use post to get into body."
23- "If you are feeling it, you are doing it."
30- "Muscles, being more yang-like in nature, do better with yang-like forms of exercise: rhythmic and repetitive stresses. Connective tissues, like our bones, ligaments and joints...do better with yin-like forms of exercises: static, long-held, tensile and compressive stresses."
36- Optimal and natural range of motion means healthy, not maximum. "there are many more reasons for your lack of mobility than short, tight muscles." (fascia, nervous, immune and endocrine systems, tendons ligaments and joint capsules and water all have impact on flexibility.
